The railroad of The New Mexico Midland Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge railway, wholly within the State of New Mexico, extending from San Antonio, N. Mex., a point on The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company, easterly to Carthage, N. Mex. The main line has a mileage of 9.993 miles. Other tracks total 3.618 miles, the aggregate being 13.611 miles.


Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated June 11, 1904, under the general laws of the Territory of New Mexico to construct a railroad to serve the mines of the Carthage Fuel Company, hereinafter called the Carthage, in the town of Carthage, N. Mex. The Carthage controls the carrier through the ownership of a majority of the capital stock. The road was opened for operation about August 28, 1906.
