Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated on January 21, 1880, under the general laws of New York relating to the reorganization of railroads sold under mortgage, and is a reorganization of the New York and Oswego Midland Railroad Company [apparently incorporated January 11, 1866], which had been sold under foreclosure proceedings on November 14, 1879. While the records indicate that the carrier obtained possession of the property on January 21, 1880, it did not begin operations until February 1, 1880. Its principal office is located in New York City. Control of the carrier is vested in the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Company, through ownership of a majority of the capital stock. The detailed facts as to the development of fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.
