The Oshkosh Transportation Company[edit]

The railroad of The Oshkosh Transportation Company is a single-track line in and about the city of Oshkosh, Wis., comprising 2.151 miles of road.

The Oshkosh Transportation Company is a corporation of the State of Wisconsin, having its principal office at Milwaukee, Wis. It was incorporated November 4, 1867, under the general laws of that State. No accounting records of the company were obtained. Therefore, no information can be given from its accounts regarding financial dealings, corporate operations, or investments. However, certain data indicated below were obtained from other sources. The company is controlled by E. H. Abbot, of Cambridge, Mass., through ownership of the entire outstanding capital stock. On the other hand, the records do not indicate that this company controls any common-carrier corporation.

The records reviewed do not indicate by whom this property was operated prior to November 26, 1873. From that date to date of valuation it has been operated by the North Western.

The property consists of 2.151 miles of single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, and 1.921 miles of yard tracks and sidings at Oshkosh, Wis.

This property was acquired in part by purchase from two individuals, Campbell and Barron, and in part by lease in perpetuity from the Oshkosh City Railway Company, under an agreement dated November 26, 1873, of all of that company's property, real and personal, including the rights and franchises.
