Location and general description of property.—The railroad of Southern Illinois and Missouri Bridge Company, hereinafter called the carrier, owns and maintains a double-track standard-gauge steam railroad extending from Bridge Junction, about 2 miles north of Thebes, Ill., to Illmo, Mo., a distance of 4.642 miles, including a double-track bridge across the Mississippi River and the approaches thereto. Of the above mileage 2.413 miles are in Illinois and 2.229 in Missouri. The carrier also owns 2.575 miles of sidings. Its road thus embraces 11.859 miles of all tracks owned.


Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated December 28, 1900, under the general laws of the State of Illinois in the interest of Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad Company, St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company, Illinois Central Railroad Company, St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway Company, and Missouri Pacific Railway Company, hereinafter called the proprietor companies. The right to construct the bridge across the Mississippi River was granted by act of Congress, approved January 26, 1901.
