The railroad of the St. Louis, Council Bluffs and Omaha Railroad Company, herein called the St. Louis, Council Bluffs and Omaha, is a single-track line located entirely within the State of Missouri and extending from Chillicothe to Pattonsburg, 41.590 miles.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The St. Louis, Council Bluffs and Omaha was incorporated under the general laws of Missouri and Iowa, through filing with the secretaries of the State of Missouri, October 7, 1870, and Iowa, December 19, 1870, articles of consolidation dated September 20, 1870, for the purpose of consolidating the property, rights, and franchises of the St. Louis, Council Bluffs and Omaha Railroad Company in Iowa and the Chillicothe & Omaha Railroad Company. The date of organization of the St. Louis, Council Bluffs and Omaha has not been ascertainable from the records reviewed.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The railroad owned, consisting of 41.590 miles of single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, extending from Chillicothe to "Elm Flats", a point near Pattonsburg, Mo., was acquired by construction. The records reviewed indicate that construction work was started in September 1869, by the Chillicothe & Omaha Railroad Company, and that it was completed under contract with this company July 1, 1871, by the Brunswick, Chillicothe and Omaha Railroad Association.
