Location and general description of property.—The railroad of the St. Louis, Kennett & Southeastern Railroad Company, herein called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in Missouri and Arkansas. The main line extends northwesterly from Kennett, Mo., to Piggott, Ark., a distance of 16.905 miles. The carrier also owns 9.679 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 26.584 miles of all tracks owned and used. These tracks are classified by States in the trackage table in Appendix 1.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated March 29, 1906, under the general laws of the State of Missouri, for the stated purpose of acquiring and operating a railroad to extend from Campbell, Mo., to Kennett, Mo., with extensions. The date of organization of the carrier has not been determined.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, 16.905 miles, was acquired by it partly through purchase and partly through construction. The manner in which the carrier acquired the various portions of its line, and the years when they were constructed, are indicated below.

All mileage was originally constructed as narrow gauge, except the 6.31 miles extending from Ozark to Piggott, Ark. The remaining mileage, other than that abandoned, was converted to standard gauge in 1909.
