The railroad of the Stockton Terminal and Eastern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad extending in an eastwardly direction from Stockton to Bellota, Calif., a distance of 18.617 miles. The carrier also owns and uses 2.342 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 20.959 miles of all tracks owned.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated October 29, 1908, under the general laws of the State of California, for the stated purpose of constructing and operating a standard-gauge steam railroad from Stockton to Jenny Lind, Calif., a distance of about 30 miles. The date of organization of the carrier was not determined.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, amounting to 18.617 miles, was all acquired by construction. The road from Stockton, Calif., to a point about 15 miles east thereof, was constructed by carrier forces during the period from 1909 to 1911. It was opened for operation April 1, 1911.
