The Talbotton Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is located entirely within the State of Georgia, and extends from Talbotton to Paschal, a distance of 6.797 miles. Sidetracks aggregate 0.399 mile, and all tracks owned by the carrier 7.196 miles.


Corporate history.—By a special act of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia, approved on August 23, 1872, there was incorporated the Talbotton Branch Railroad, which name was later changed, by special act of the same legislative body, approved September 30, 1881, to Talbotton Railroad Company. The declared purpose of this company was to construct, maintain, and operate a line of railroad between Talbotton and Paschal, Ga., a distance of approximately 7 miles. Organization was effected in the spring of 1881 and the line of road as authorized was built and opened for commercial operations during the same year. The principal office is in Talbotton, Ga. Persons Brothers, merchants in that city, control the carrier through ownership of the outstanding stock.
