The railroad of the Texas, Oklahoma & Eastern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in southeastern Oklahoma. The main line extends from Valliant to Broken Bow, Okla., a distance of 24.070 miles. The carrier also owns 7.461 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 31.631 miles of all tracks owned. The bridge steel and a portion of the rails and fastenings in the track are leased from the St. Louis- San Francisco Railway Company.


It is controlled by the DeQueen & Eastern Railroad Company through ownership of over 99 per cent of its outstanding capital stock. On the other hand, the records reviewed do not indicate that the carrier controls any common-carrier corporations. The property of the carrier has been operated by its own organization during its entire life.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated October 21, 1910, under the general laws of the State of Oklahoma, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from the town of Valliant, northeasterly through the town of Bismark and easterly to Mountain Fork, a distance of about 30 miles.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier extending from Valliant to Broken Bow, Okla., a distance of 24.070 miles, was constructed for the carrier by the Choctaw Lumber Company during the period 1910 and 1911. The Choctaw Lumber Company is affiliated with the Dierks Lumber and Coal Company, a corporation controlled by Hans and H. L. Dierks, who also controlled the DeQueen & Eastern Railroad Company through ownership of a majority of the outstanding capital stock.
