Location and General Description of Property

Vermont and Province Line Railroad Company, herein called the Vermont and Province Line, situated entirely within the State of Vermont, extending from the international boundary to Alburgh Junction, 3.088 miles.

The Vermont and Province Line is a corporation of the State of Vermont, having its principal office at St. Albans, Vt. It was incorporated May 28, 1897, under the general laws of that State. The accounting records of this company were not obtained. Therefore, no information can be given from its accounts regarding financial dealings, corporate operations, or investments. However, certain data indicated below were obtained from reports filed with this commission and from the report of the carrier on its corporate history. The Vermont and Province Line is controlled by the carrier, through ownership of the entire outstanding capital stock. On the other hand, the records reviewed do not indicate that the company controls any common-carrier corporation.

The railroad of this company consists of 3.088 miles of single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, extending from Alburgh Junction to the railroad of the Canada Atlantic Railway Company at the Canadian boundary, all in the State of Vermont. It also owns 5.217 miles of yard tracks and sidings. The entire owned mileage was acquired by construction. The property was operated by the Canada Atlantic Railway Company from date of acquirement to October 1, 1905. Since that date it has been operated by the carrier under an implied lease.

The entire property has been operated by the carrier or its affiliated company, the Canada Atlantic Railway Company, since completion of construction to date of valuation, under implied lease. No rental has been recorded as accrued or paid.

Under the several agreements between the carrier and the Great Northwestern Telegraph Company, all the telegraph property of the Vermont and Province Line, consisting of 3.09 miles of pole line and 6.18 miles of aerial wire, is jointly used. The terms of use and termination of the agreements were not obtained.
