CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated May 1, 1876, under the general laws of the State of North Carolina for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from Warrenton to Warrenton Depot, N. C., a distance of about 3 miles. The date of organization of the carrier was not determined.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, 2.775 miles, was all acquired by construction. Some construction work was performed from 1876 to 1878, but the work was suspended from the latter date until 1884, when construction was resumed. The railroad of the carrier was completed and opened for operation on November 14, 1884. It is not known whether the construction work was performed by forces of the carrier or by contract.
