Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek Railroad[edit]

The railroad of the Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek Railroad Company, herein called the Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek, consists of 10.118 miles of single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, extending from the New York-Pennsylvania State line, near Genesee, Pa., to Wellsville, all in the State of New York.

Introductory[edit]

The Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek is a corporation of the State of New York, having its principal office at Buffalo, N. Y. It is controlled by the carrier [Buffalo and Susquehanna Railroad] through ownership of its entire outstanding capital stock. On the other hand, the records reviewed do not indicate that the company controls any common-carrier corporation.

The property of the Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek has been operated from date of completion to date of valuation as detailed hereunder.

Corporate History[edit]

The Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek was incorporated November 14, 1881, under the general laws of the State of New York, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from the New York-Pennsylvania State line to Wellsville, N. Y., about 10 miles. The date of organization was November 18, 1881.

Development of Fixed Physical Property[edit]

The owned mileage of the Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek 10.118 miles, was all acquired by construction which was completed on September 1, 1890.

Leased Railway Property[edit]

The entire property of the Wellsville, Coudersport and Pine Creek is leased to the carrier [Buffalo and Susquehanna Railroad] for a term of 50 years from April 1, 1901. The terms of the lease and the rental accrued for the year ended December 31, 1917, are given in the chapter on leased railway property in the report on the carrier.
