CORPORATE HISTORY

The West Coast Railway Company was incorporated under the general laws of the State of Florida, December 12, 1900, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad to extend in a southerly direction from Greenville to the most practical point at or near Tampa, Fla. The date of organization of The West Coast Railway Company was December 15, 1900.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of The West Coast Railway Company, 30.998 miles, was acquired partly by construction and partly by purchase, as indicated in the statement following:

By construction: Greenville to Perry, Fla., commenced Apr. 13, 1903, opened for operation Sept. 1, 1904 26.16

By purchase from the Interstate Lumber Company, Mar. 1, 1915: Construction by that company, Perry to Hampton Springs, Fla. 5.00

Total 31.16

Difference between total recorded mileage and mileage inventoried as of date of valuation .162

Mileage inventoried as of date of valuation 30.998

In the construction of the road built for The West Coast Railway Company, all branches of the work were done by its own forces, except the grading for the track from Sirmans to Perry, Fla., a distance of about 17 miles, which was performed by Lester Brothers and Langford, independent contractors.
