CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated April 23, 1919, under general laws of Illinois, to acquire the portion of the railroad of The Sidell and Olney Railroad Company extending from Kansas to Casey, Ill.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

All of the railroad of the carrier was acquired by purchase, authorized by certificate of convenience and necessity issued by the Public Utilities Commission of Illinois, dated July 18, 1919, docket no. 9153. It was formerly a part of the railroad of The Sidell and Olney Railroad Company and was constructed during 1882-83 by the Danville, Olney and Ohio River Railroad Company, a predecessor of The Cincinnati, Indianapolis & Western Railroad Company, as a part of the line that extended from Sidell to West Liberty, Ill. After receivership begun July 22, 1918, the part of the railroad of The Sidell and Olney Railroad Company between Kansas and Casey, Ill., was sold on April 10, 1919, by court order and conveyed by deed from the court to W. H. Drewel, purchaser, April 25, 1919, who conveyed it to the carrier on August 13, 1919. The recorded mileage is 19.53; the inventoried mileage, 19.383.
