This course explores the history of California art through the Langson IMCA exhibition Dissolve at the University Art Gallery. Students will learn about art movements unique to the state from California Impressionism, Light and Space, and environmental art. The course examines how California artists address the dissolution of the environment, cultural identity, light, and interpersonal personal relationships in their work.
Contributing to Wikipedia is a unique experience for students to truly make a difference. In doing so, you will gain critical digital literacy skills all while providing the world with access to reliable information! In short, it gives you the chance to have an impact beyond the classroom. In lieu of or in addition to a traditional writing assignment, you will contribute to Wikipedia in this course through researching and adding to existing Wikipedia articles related to the art and artists in this course, or by submitting an original article to Wikipedia that does not yet exist

This week, everyone should have a Wikipedia account. Make sure that when you sign up that you choose a username that is not your full identity (name), choose a nickname. Also, if you think you might edit in Wikipedia articles in the future/after you finish at UCI, consider using your personal email address to create an account rather than your 
uci.edu e-mail address.
