CORE 001: Problem Solving and Oral Communication is the University of the Pacific's first year seminar designed to have students focus on writing, information literacy, and communication skills.
In this section, students will be focusing on California's Central Valley (where the university is based) and the complex interactions between health, the environment, and the needs of agribusiness. As the nation's agricultural hub, the Central Valley needs significant resources, such as water and labor. However, this leads to complex problems such as air pollution, access to clean water, migrant labor exploitation, and pesticide exposure.
The Central Valley is largely overlooked, but students will work on Wikipedia pages to help make knowledge about the region more accessible. As an added component, students will work on service learning projects to complement their research in and outside of class.

Now that you've improved your draft based on others' feedback, it's time to move your work live - to the "mainspace."

Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media.
