Club Updates[edit]

  • We're participating in The 50,000 Challenge! The aim is to make 50,000 article improvements and creations for the United States. In particular, Wikipedia Connection will be aiming to improve articles related to Ohio. Be sure to sign up if you're interested!
  • We have confirmed the dates, times, and locations of our next two edit-a-thons. Check them out in the Upcoming Dates section above.
  • Officer elections are coming up in February! As our President and Vice President are graduating this semester, there will be a big shift in officer roles. If you are interested in running for a position, please keep this in mind and consider running! More details will be provided soon.
  • On Thurs., February 9th (11:10-12:30), a global information class would like us to discuss and introduce editing Wikipedia to students (20-40 min). Students will have been assigned readings prior to the session, and will be asked to contribute topics for us to edit at our upcoming Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon. If you are interested in attending and/or speaking at this session, please let Kevin know.
  • Our rapid grant report for the Fall 2016 semester has been submitted here. Check it out for some reflections of our last semester.
  • Thank you to the Ohio State librarians who came to our 1Lib1Ref brown-bag session yesterday! A special thank you also goes out to our club advisor, Leigh Bonds, for helping organize the event.

Wikipedia Tidbit of the Day[edit]

The Graphics Lab is a place where Wikipedians can request graphical changes to images for use on Wikipedia, all done by volunteers. Changes can include whitening backgrounds, removing obtrusive objects, restoring images, and vectorizing raster graphics.
