Potential for excessive script running time[edit]

As with any feature it is possible to create excessive script running times. I have only so far found this problem with two separate maps on a page with each one backed by raw data files of order of 1.5 MB in combined size, so likely the limit in the Lua modules will be hit about 1 MB plus of map data on a page. It is known articles should not have more than 500 references and like this should not be much of a problem. When you hit this problem is of course variable as most templates generate script time. In Sandbox I have certainly managed to upload two maps with more than 1.2 MB data between them without hitting the script limit when I used mapframe module directly for one of them but using template maplink for both failed. The article where issue occurred also had over 30 other templates, 20 module calls and over 40 references. Accordingly using mapframe module directly reduces overhead.
