Stub template

Hi all - we at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting have noted that you have created a stub template - without going through the standard procedures for proposal and debate prior to its creation. If you had, you would have made the stub template and category names conform with stub naming conventions. The template has been moved to the new name, and a category has been created at a name which also follows these naming guidelines (your original stub didn't have a category - just a redlink). In future, if you want further stub templates and categories, we'd appreciate it if you'd follow stub creation guidelines and propose them at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals for debate prior to creation. It is likely that at some point in the future there will be enough NH geography stubs for a separate category. At present there are close to the threshold number - this is how WP:WSS keeps track of when a new template is viable, so please double-stub any geography stubs relating to NH with both your new stub template and {{US-northeast-geo-stub}}. Good luck with your WikiProject! Grutness...wha? 06:05, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

Stub template

Thanks, I appologize for the oversight! Thanks for the information and I will be sure to follow the guidelines in the future. Assawyer 22:52, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

S'alright. there's a little bit of bureaucracy with stub templates, otherwise we end up with literally hundreds of different overlapping stub categories. One advantage for you with our standard naming is that you'll have one less character to type for the template :) Grutness...wha? 07:14, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

Good page for Monadnock-area towns

Contains a little info on 31 towns

Question

I'm thinking of making an 2004 state election page, with local races similiar to the box at Dawson Creek, British Columbia below(just with two parties). However, that'd be alot of work. Should I do that and make it pretty or just go with a standard box, ala Wikipedia:WikiProject New Hampshire/muncarticlewatch? karmafist 00:44, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

B.C. Election 2001: Dawson Creek polls in

Peace River South[1]

Party Candidate Votes city  % riding %

Liberal Blair Lekstrom 2,176 66.93% 64.20% Social Credit Grant Mitton 530 16.30% 17.33%   NDP Elmer Kabush 252 7.75% 7.69%   Marijuana Michelle Rainey-Fenkarek 134 4.12% 4.45% Green Stacey Dean Lajeunesse 126 3.88% 4.08% Unity Garret Golhof 33 1.02% 2.25%

Well, there will probably be at least three parties running in many races - the Free State Project has added a lot of Libertarians. Good idea though. (Yellow would be the appropriate color for the LP.) --YixilTesiphon 23:17, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

List of NH Historical Markers

I found a website that had a comprehensive list of the NH Historical Markers. I don't know if there is already an article about the Historical Markers or even if we need one. I copied the list to a subpage for the time being. Feel free to edit it. User:Jokermage/List_of_NH_Historical_Markers. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 03:50, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

New Hampshire Historical Markers is up and running! Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 09:00, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm going to try some more formatting and template tricks later to try to better organize the list. The page for 151-175 has the most up to date format. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 17:21, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

NHHM List Update

List of New Hampshire Historical Markers: 1-25 has a new Table of Contents system. Check it out and, if you have time, add it to the rest of the list pages. Also we are try to build an alphabetic index for quicker searching. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 08:13, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Maps

The below is the conversation that took place on adding maps to municipalities articles in New Hampshire on the WP:NH Project page:
In the Infobox Template:Infobox Town NH, there is a place for an image showing the town's place in the state. Can someone advise the rest of us on creating such images?

They're not a big deal. Here's what I did.
  1. Copy and Paste the map at Concord, New Hampshire into a graphic editor(Microsoft Paint, Photoshop, etc.)
  2. Cut the "dot" and then place it over where the town/city is
  3. Save it as a .JPG or .PNG
  4. Upload the file
  5. Place it in that area in the infobox.

Once my GIS skills are past where they are now(rudimentary), i'll do more. karmafist 22:01, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Actually, since I've already got a Henniker map on my hard drive, I can try mass producing them by moving the dot then uploading. I'll start with Merrimack County. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 01:50, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
Update That was a lot easier than I expected. Merrimack County maps are done and being uploaded shortly. The Merrimack County town all have red dot maps now! Just use [[Image:TownNHLoc.PNG]]. Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 03:00, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
Nice job Joker! karmafist 03:59, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Villages

We should improve the articles on the major villages. These places often have an identity seperate from their "parent" town(s).

This subcategory is a good idea, but probably could use a different name. Under NH law, villages have a special standing--they're called "village districts," and are formed for specific purposes, such as to maintain a water or sewer system. But the more I think about it, the less able I feel to come up with a better alternative. Perhaps a note in this section distinguishing these "villages" from formal districts? As I live in Penacook I have proprietary interest in that one, I would like to write a (short) article there, including a link to the Concord article. Anybody know how to edit a redirect page? SailorfromNH 21:14, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
I removed the redirect. Have at it! Jokermage "Timor Mentum Occidit" 02:26, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

some others (not sure I'll have time to add but perhaps someone here could)
