Should toll bridges with shields be included? --NE2 19:04, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, add anything with a shield that the copyright status may be unclear on. --Holderca1 19:13, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reference links are timing out, and aren't those for patents and trademarks, not copyrights? --NE2 19:19, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eh, didn't realize they would time out like that, they were links to the trademarks, but that doesn't mean they aren't PD, but it helped out on whether or not to add {{trademark}} to the images. --Holderca1 19:24, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You used [1] as a reference for that shield being PD; it's not. --NE2 19:42, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That was a ref for its TM. --Holderca1 19:46, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, keep threshold of originality in mind, if it is just a bunch of letters, or just letters and an outline of the state, it is ineligible for copyright. For example, Image:Los_Angeles_Times.svg is ineligible for copyright. --Holderca1 19:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the lnks to photos if shields result in an "image hotlinking not allowed" error. Maybe these should be changed to link to the containing page instead. --Polaron | Talk 20:12, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. Can you go to the URL bar, add a space to the end, and hit enter? --NE2 20:13, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't really relevant here, but it might be relevant somewhere: "For example, engineering drawings relating to a highway sign could not be copied without violation of the copyright, but the copyright would not be infringed by a third party constructing a sign in accordance with the drawings." --NE2 20:13, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
