City of Bradford

I'm trying to create my 1st ever userbox, and it's ok so far but there's a few things I need to know.

  1. How do I get the text to be centralised?
  2. How do I get the text to be bold?
  3. Can I change the text colour of the page I linked from Blue to Yellow?
  4. How do I make the City of Bradford text slightly bigger, and is there any guide to show what size it will be?

5. When I've got it how I want it, where should I post it so that other Bradfordians can use it too?

@Danstarr69:
  1. For text alignment, use |info-a=center
  2. For bold text, use |info-op=font-weight:bold;
  3. Since your background color is already yellow, I would recommend using another color. Red is used in example. This is a bit tricky: you need to place <span style="color:red"></span> inside the right side of the wikilink: [[City of Bradford|<span style="color:red">City of Bradford</span>]].
  4. To increase text size, use parameter info-s, e.g. |info-s=10. Your code sets size to 8.
  5. Since City of Bradford is in England, please add your new userbox to the list Wikipedia:Userboxes/Location/United Kingdom#Cities.

It's a great thing to do, and I'm surprised there aren't Userboxes around already. I made a template here based upon an image I found (and resized) at Wikimedia Commons (I hope I did everything according to the rules).

Hi! I was just browsing through the "Health" userboxes and saw one saying "This user supports research for Crohn's Disease", but not one that said something like "This user has been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease". Open to Direction

  • text - "This Wikipedian is open to direction and is looking for a job to do"
  • image - A picture of a workman on a blue background wearing a yellow hard hat, a red and orange checked shirt holding a ruler or spirit level with a question mark beside his head
  • purpose - Some Wikipedians love being part of the task force, but sometimes don't know where to direct their efforts and become complacent in their productive activity, while remaining active generally. @Minecraftr: Very much agree that this needs to be a thing! Sadly, the only picture we have while being properly licensed for this usage isn't very suitable for this purpose. Tried to match the red akin to the one Exploding Kittens uses.

The Golden Girls fan

I love The Golden Girls, and I'm surprised there isn't a userbox for it. If anyone makes one, I'd appreciate if it said something in the range of "Picture it: America, 1985. This user becomes a fan of The Golden Girls," or perhaps a "Back in St. Olaf" introduction. For the picture, I think it should be the show's logo or a free image of the girls' house. Whatever works. The logo doesn't seem to be centered properly; the SVG itself may have a few pixels of padding more on one side than the other. If you want a different blue, let me know, and I'll happily adjust it. http://rgb.to can help if you're looking for a color but aren't quite sure what specific hue/tone. I ended up editing it, so it matched the logo a bit better. Just a housecleaning thing really, as it just looks better to my eye. Still, if you think the older looks better (use cur|diff in page history under my userpage), I can swap it back no problem. Userboxes for Universities in Finland

I'm surprised that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Userboxes/Education/Europe#Finland only has a userbox for Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. I'm at Aalto University, formerly https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aalto_University#Helsinki_University_of_Technology. There is a larger List of universities in Finland, of which University of Helsinki doesn't have a userbox, either. Daviding (talk) 16:01, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

My junior college

I'm not good with CSS, but I'm trying to finagle a userbox for the former Lon Morris College, where I graduated in 1987. I've got 2 samples on my 2nd Sandbox page, but I like the 2nd one better. The picture is from Commons, I swear. I had to go higher on the px count to get the picture to fill up a square, otherwise it's pretty small and it has a letterbox effect. I also want to do white for the linkie instead of blue. I'm not sure how to save it as its own file. The college's colors were green/white, BTW. Any help out there?  Done. Here you go: {{User:Shaggylawn65/User Lon Morris College}}. For userboxes, image size is easier to define through height. Use an x before the <number>px. To change color of wikilink, use <span>...</span> on the right side of the pipe with a style. Neutral version of Vietnam userbox

I'd like a userbox with a caption "This user is proud to be Vietnamese-American!" with an ao dai possibly or an Asian conical hat representing the culture and heritage. However, I do not want a flag of Vietnam of any kind on it to avoid any controversy between overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese people currently living in Vietnam (see Little Saigon or Vietnam War for more).
