Category talk:Canton of Vaud

This category and it's subcategory are losing articles. Some articles might be in the deletion log. Please do not take articles away from these categories.

As mentioned on your talk page, you have been removing articles from the subcategory Category:Municipalities of the canton of Vaud, and adding them under Category:Vaud, but without any comment or edit summary, which makes it difficult for other editors to follow the rationale between the changes - and make it appear like the municipalities category is losing articles. I, for one, would prefer to see the municipalities under the subcategory, which seems more logical. What is your opinion ? -- User:Schutz

As mentioned above (sorry for having forgotten the signature), I favour this solution as well. One reason is that at the moment, the 2 categories look like duplicates of each other -- and any other article (i.e. not a municipality) in Category:Vaud is lost among the flood of municipalities. I think it works pretty well for example with Category:Geneva and Category:Municipalities of the Canton of Geneva (although there are far less municipalities in Geneva than in Vaud, of course). An easy way to categorize the pages would be to add the category to the navigational templates for the districts. -- User:Docu

Some articles in Category:Vaud are getting redirected. For an example Lussery used to be in Category:Vaud perfectly then it got redirected with Lussery-Villars. Please do not redirect an article in Category:Vaud with out any comment about why you want to redirect it. -- User:Jezerfetnae

Looking at the history of Lussery, the redirect seems legitimate to me - especially since the page was almost empty before. If it had contained anything that was specific to the municipality before the merging, I would have been inclined to say that the old page should be kept, but it was not the case here. Perhaps you can discuss this directly on Talk:Lussery-Villars if you don't agree. Schutz 21:09, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Talking about which, it would be nice if you could contribute to the discussion above about the categorisation of the municipalities in the canton of Vaud - I see you have been categorising all your new articles under Category:Vaud, but you have not expressed your opinion on this topic.
