Don't categorize people as Republicans before the Republican Party existed[edit]
The U.S. Republican Party was founded in 1854, so people who served in the legislature before that date should not be treated as Republicans in the legislature. I removed Nehemiah Abbott from this category for that reason. He was a Republican later on, but not in 1842-43 when he was in the legislature.
