Draft:Osianoba

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Osianoba or Osoba is literally translated from Georgian as “Ossetianism/Time of Ossetians” and represents a centuries-old period in which, before the advent of Russian imperial power in the Caucasus and its protectorate, the population of Kartli was subjected to constant raids and plunder by the Ossetians. The number of captives reached such an extent that a new word “guyrdziag/гуырдзиаг” arose in the Ossetian class hierarchy, describing a captive Kartvelian who became a part of the Ossetian society.
