Reception[edit]

Critical response[edit]

Alex Reif of LaughingPlace compared Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats to Mickey Saves Christmas and wrote: "I hope this isn't the end of stop-motion Mickey Mouse holiday specials. Both productions have been fantastic, and in a landscape of quickly-produced, often forgettable CG productions, these legacy approaches feel all the more special".[23] Daps Magic called it a "lovely new Halloween special for Disney fans; it is cute, charming, and has moments of humor that make for a very enjoyable family viewing experience", and praised the stop-motion animation.[24]

Jack Hackney of Daily Mirror named Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats one of the "10 of the best Halloween films for kids" in 2023, describing it as one of the Halloween programs entertaining and suitable for children.[25] Stephanie Morgan of Common Sense Media gave Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats a grade of three out of five stars and complimented the depiction of positive messages and role models, citing kindness and friendship.[26]
