Career[edit]

Millward was born in Bromborough in 1942.[2] In November 1961, he left The Undertakers to join the Four Jays, who in October 1962, changed their name to The Fourmost. In 1963, Brian Epstein became their manager and the band had a number of songs enter the UK charts such as "Hello Little Girl", "A Little Loving", "I'm in Love", and "Baby I Need Your Loving"; "A Little Loving" charting the highest at six.[3]

Death[edit]

Millward was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1964, and a year later diagnosed with leukemia.[4] He died of the illness at Clatterbridge Hospital in Bebington on 7 March 1966 aged 23. The band carried on without him, and a special show, ‘A Night for Mike’, was presented at Liverpool's Grafton Ballroom on 5 April 1966. Mike's place was filled by George Peckham.[5]
