Crimes and accidents, and other concerns[edit]

I believe that domestic crime and accidents should not be included. There are not national concern as most likely the people directly involve in these accidents and crimes would remember these years after. I myself would not recall that a particular criminal murdered a particular person or a particular car in a specific place bumped to something years later. We should only include natural disasters or incidents that are significant like the Manila Hostage Crisis or similar noteworthy events.--Zuanzuanfuwa (talk) 07:48, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Zuanzuanfuwa I will also add your message, hence I've seen as well that launching/establishing a radio networks/TV station is not a part of events as well. You have to consider that this page is exclusive for the events which notably known in the country.Hamham31Heke!KushKush! 08:01, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
People keeps adding events that are not notable. Like annual winners of PBA games. Yes its notable the fact that it is a national level basketball league but this things belongs to the PBA articles.Same for pageants. Entry on Manny Pacquiao's games also adds to the clutter. Sporting events should be added if its notable and is a record-breaking (like PH hosting a competition for the first time) and if the PH host a very prestigious continental or world event like the FIBA Asia Championship or the Olympics.

Visit of celebrities and even head of states should not be added. The visit of Lebron for example is non notable. Notable for basketball fans but not to the country as whole.

Company openings should not also be included here. I came again to check the XXXX in the Philippines articles to clean them but it seems they keep adding these non notable entries back. Most editors adding these non notable entries are mostly i.p users but assume good faith and I believe they add these entries because they are personally notable to them. Maybe we should only allow registered users like the main 2013 page to edit the recent XXXX in the Philippines articles.--Zuanzuanfuwa (talk) 08:35, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm good with the idea of leaving minor traffic accidents. What are the policies for "Years in the <country>" articles such as this? 2012 in the United Kingdom includes Man City's epic Premier League win. 2012 in Australia has a separate section for sporting events, but are included nevertheless. 2012 in the United States includes the result of the annual Miss America. Pacquiao fights have made it to the headlines of all newspapers, why exclude that here? –HTD 11:48, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late reply, Well we can follow the Australian model, I believe there was some similar debate, on concerts and media. Well it resulted to the creation of a separated section for Concerts. Thanks for participating in the discussion.--Hariboneagle927 (talk) 12:57, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
