Updates to clubs[edit]

In the article, it's mentioned that the club that gets listed next to each player is the one they last played a competitive match for. However, several of the players have been changed to include the club which they have signed for in the current transfer window ahead of the tournament. Examples include the newly announced Arsenal signings and Ona Batlle's move to Barcelona. Are these supposed to be included, or are they still supposed to be listed as their former club if they've yet to make an appearance for their new one? As it says in the lede, we list the club the player last played a competitive match for. If you think it should be defined differently, it should be brought up at WT:FOOTY as that is the consensus for tournament squads pages. --SuperJew (talk) 10:34, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I think that "current contracted club" would make more sense than "last club they played a competitive match for"... but I don't see enough importance in listing the club to bother changing the MOS. I am commenting here because as it is, there could be some confusion - there's some players whose club is listed as a B team. A B team is a team within a club, so should the 'B' be scrapped and link changed to just the parent club? And if not and we stick with B team labels, then there's the question of whether being part of a match squad but not getting on the pitch counts as a competitive appearance or not, as in the case of María Pérez this would affect whether we use Barcelona or Barcelona B. I'm also not entirely sure, and would suggest bringing the conversation to WT:FOOTY where we'll get a larger range of opinions and from more experienced editors too --SuperJew (talk) 09:43, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
