Merger[edit]

The 421st Bombardment Squadron. Very Heavy was consolidated with the 421st Air Refueling Squadron. The articles should be merged. Information on the 421 BS page has already been incorporated into this article. --Lineagegeek (talk) 23:09, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Verification Needed[edit]

The combat chronology of the squadron is inconsistent with that for its parent group, the 504th Bombardment Group as stated in Maurer, Maurer, ed. (1983) [1961]. Air Force Combat Units of World War II (PDF) (reprint ed.). Washington, DC: Office of Air Force History. ISBN 0-912799-02-1. LCCN 61060979.. That work indicates that the group's first mission in February was flown against Kobe, not Tokyo. It also states that until March the group engaged in high altitude daylight missions, only switching to night incendiary raids after that date. Although the squadron may have operated independently, it would be unusual for it to have done so. If so, that needs to be verified.--Lineagegeek (talk) 19:56, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
