A couple of questions come to mind: Is it really proper to say that the battalion remained under the 3rd Division for the duration of the war when it was under command of 7th Division for several months? The book title in Further Reading suggests that it, or some of its elements was reformed at some point after '46. Is this correct? If so then a sentence about whoever carries on its traditions and heritage would be in order.

Hi, you raise some good points. I have removed the sentence regarding the 3rd Division as per above, as I think you are right in your assessment. Regarding the perpetuation of the unit, from what I can see there was a Merri Company in 1960s within the pentropic 2nd Battalion, Royal Victoria Regiment and the regiment has adopted the battle honours of a number of disbanded CMF units. I can't find any info of the battalion being re-raised in 1948. I have nothing definitive about the Merri Coy either, so I've not included it. I'd say the Corfield book would be referring to the company level traditions that a number of the Army Reserve units perpetuate—in this case 5th/6th Battalion, Royal Victoria Regiment—but I've not got Corfield's book to confirm this. — AustralianRupert (talk) 05:17, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I've finally been to the State Library of Queensland and had a look at Corfield's book. From this it is clear that the 57th/60th was not re-raised after the Second World War. The title of his book derives its dates because it goes into considerable detail about the goings-on of the 57th/60th Battalion Association (veterans organisation) after the war. You are both correct (Hi Rupert!). The 15th Brigade was under 7th Div for Lae-Nadzab and then until returning to Australia following liberation of Madang. Then they were under 3rd Div formation again for the return to the war on Bougainville. The 57th/60th was not reformed after the war. King's and Regimental Colours are not with any other unit, they are at the Shrine under the care of the Lord Mayor of Melbourne. GJW (talk) 09:38, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
