Is this really necissary?[edit]

What's with all these cities, no ones ever heard of any of this garbage. A-town is Atlanta, Georgia. Are we going to have disambiguation pages for NYC and LA now too? Okku-Silver Town is A-town now??? I'm going to start clearing this in a couple days unless someone has a rational explanation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.98.78.27 (talk) 04:26, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I came looking for an article on "Okku-Silver Town", aka America Town, aka A-Town. That's how generations of US servicemen referred to it. Never heard of Atlanta being called A-Town. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.205.168.245 (talk) 20:12, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed[edit]

Indeed, I'm not convinced this isn't just an arbitrary list of some places whose names start with an A. It seems especially unlikely that the places in non-Anglophone are called "A-Town" (maybe local translations). It might be best to purge this list of any place that doesn't mention "A-Town" as a nickname in its own article. In the meantime, there seems to be no basis in fact that "A-Town" usually refers to Amarillo, so I'm going to move it to the regular list. --BDD (talk) 19:22, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
