The text isn't copied from the source (given in the article), but given the long list of names and dates which need to be given in the correct form, close similarities are inevitable. I'll leave it to someone else to decide whether these are too close and there is some way of rephrasing to increase differentiation. Warofdreams talk 23:11, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name Shortening Date[edit]

I was just looking at a letter from this organisation in 1946, and the letterhead read "The National Amalgamated Society of Operative House and Ship Painters and Decorators". So I'm not too sure about the name being shortened in 1935. I have no other source other than that document, which is unpublished and it would be original research, so I would not change the article. (The letter is a protest sent to Ernest Bevin regarding the situation in Greece, from this file [1]) Toiziz (talk) 19:43, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting - checking Marsh and Ryan, they give 1941 for the name change, which matches neither source! I wonder if perhaps the name change was more informal, with the longer form gradually dropped? Warofdreams talk 23:32, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
