Adding the image to such a short article just harms readability. It makes the categories further down and serves no real purpose. If someone is going to upload a picture, they don't need something harming readability to do so.--TM 01:42, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But it doesn't harm readability. If there was an actual photo there, would that harm readability? Because if there was a photo there, it would also make the categories further down the page. Having the encouragement image there (like it is on EVERY OTHER MLS player without a legal photo) makes it easier for users to create legal images by providing simple instructions on how to format the image link, and maintains consistency with the approved and recommended soccer template at Template:Infobox_Football_biography_2. But it does harm readability. The placeholder image is, IMO, ugly and unhelpful. If an actual image existed, it would add to the article. However, it does not and the placeholder image only makes it longer without adding anything to the content. In fact, it decreases readability because it forces the reader to scroll down the page to find pertinent information.--TM 02:21, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And moving your finger one eighth of an inch to scroll down a page slightly is that much of a big issue? You can't just use WP:JUSTDONTLIKEIT as a reason for deleting something which is a standard element of an infobox agreed and approved by the project team which spent a long time designing the template. And, the placeholder image DOES add something to the article because it acts as a positive encouragement for users to make the article better. The WP:PRIMARY templates are ugly and force you to scroll down, but the whole idea of them being there is to encourage users to make the page better, not for aesthetic beauty.
