Written By Hand[edit]

I deleted the title "Written By Hand" from the list of Simon's plays, as it is properly only a directing credit for him, not a writing credit.

"Written By Hand" (with the original working title of "A play with music written by the cast") was a project presented by members of the Brandeis MFA graduate acting class in the spring of 1987, as part of the regular Spingold Theatre season. The script was developed "A Chorus Line"-style, all coming from the students' personal experiences, and relayed by the actors in a series of monologues and (mostly original) songs. Graduate playwriting students helped shape the script, Broadway composer Barbara Damashek ("Quilters") was invited to write original musical material and shape the musical elements of the show, and Simon directed the piece. Simon also brought one of his colleagues, South-African actress Gcina Mhlope, to be a member of the acting company for the show. I was the pianist/musical director for the piece. The play was not generally received well, but I know that discussion is really beyond the scope of a Wikipedia entry on Barney Simon.65.96.125.48 (talk) 06:04, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jacaranda FM[edit]

I have the impression that there are actually 2 well-known Barney Simons in South Africa. The radio personality on Jacaranda FM has, as far as I know, never written a play. He is also very much alive. This may be a case for disambiguation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.19.36.89 (talk) 12:14, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
