VN spelling and "communist"

My comments on Talk:Battle of Long Tan apply equally here. The VN spellings come from the relevant pages here on English Wikipedia. I have a problem with using "communist" as a generic term to describe the PAVN/VC as it is POV because while the North Vietnamese leadership was undoubtedly communist, the rank and file weren't necessarily and were arguably more nationalist and so I have deleted it wherever possible and replaced it with "enemy" as necessary, though my preference is to use PAVN/VC as correctly describing the "enemy". Whenever a specific province is being referred to the P should be capitalised, e.g. Biên Hòa Province, not Biên Hòa province Mztourist (talk) 16:57, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

G'day, agree with the capital "P" as it would be a proper noun. I think it would be best to avoid "enemy" as a term here as that has in the past been seen as potentially loaded. As you say, PAVN/VC is probably the best solution here. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 23:11, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

Hello again. Its a fair point about the use of the term "communist" - I will attempt to reduce its usage. I do however think we must avoid the term "enemy" as it generally seems POV. Recent changes

I don't see why the following changes aren't accepted:

• VN spelling as the spelling comes from the relevant pages on English Wikipedia and most of the important Vietnamese places referred to on this page have a page of their own
• Thai Division to Royal Thai Army Expeditionary Division
• 4th Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment instead of unwikilinked 4th Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment and then later incorrectly referred to as US 4/12th Infantry Battalion
• 3/17th Air Cavalry instead of US 3/17 Air Cavalry Regiment
• Why VN places have been unwikilinked e.g. Phước Hoà forest
• Why "South Vietnamese" is repeatedly used instead of ARVN
• Why ARVN Marine Regiment is used, when to my knowledge the Marines were part of the Republic of Vietnam Navy, not the Army/ARVN
• Why "contacted" is used. I assume what is meant by this is "made contact with", so it should either state that or use the shorter "engaged"
• Splintex: If you follow the link splintex rounds it takes you to the section of the page where it states "Although not strictly shrapnel, a 1960s weapons project produced splintex shells for 90 and 106 mm recoilless rifles and 105 mm Howitzers where it was called a 'Beehive' round. Unlike the shrapnel shells’ balls, the splintex shell contained flechettes.", so why doesn't the wikilink instead take you to Flechette or Beehive anti-personnel round?
• Aftermath: 3rd Cavalry Regiment and 1st Armoured Regiment are already wikilinked in Prelude
