Debated: Author/Co-Author of book the series is based on[edit]

There has been considerable back-and-forth editing and reverting recently that must be handled via this Talk channel before we break more elements of the page through an edit war. Please read the following points and state your opinion on the question at the bottom:

The title of the book the series is based on seems to have an Author (James Keene) and a Co-Author (Hillel Levin)
The book publisher’s (Macmillan) webpage for the book says: “Author: James Keene with Hillel Levin”
The physical book says “By James Keene with Hillel Levin”
The end credits of the show says “Based on the book “IN WITH THE DEVIL” by JAMES KEENE and HILLEL LEVIN”

Question to be answered: In the lead section and in the wiki box (both where the book and author(s) are always mentioned), should this wiki page say “by James Keene with Hillel Levin” or something else? Per Template:Infobox television, under based_on parameter which says: Use this field if a series is based on previously produced or published material, such as films, books, plays, articles, old screenplays etc, and is explicitly credited as such. FYI, we always go by according to on-screen credits this is how they are explicitly credited. On-screen credits override secondary sources because this is how they choose to credits on the miniseries. — YoungForever^(talk) 16:51, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Per the cited templates, policies, and standards provided in this discussion, I have added “and Hillel Levin” to both the info box and the matching sentence in the lead sentence, along with an explanatory footnote on each which says “Per on-screen credits of this miniseries. For more information, see the discussion and consensus on the Talk page.”

True Story?[edit]

Whenever a true store is dramatized, the drama deviates from the actual story, sometimes in significant ways. I like to come to Wikipedia to find out which parts were true and which were invented by the filmmakers. It would be helpful if somebody added a section like that here. I'm only two episodes in, but already I'm annoyed that the Larry Hall character knew something about the crime that was not made public (the folded clothes), but when the case was appealed, nobody made any mention of this very incriminating detail. Nor do they point this out to his twin brother. This makes me wonder what the truth was about the confession. MiguelMunoz (talk) 08:23, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
