Don't overdo the schedule listings[edit]

This is a very new article, and editors should think long term. What is valuable information 5-10 years from now? Having tables with first broadcast dates for each episode in Denmark, US and UK is fine, but please not the exact time as well, or each repeat. And listing times for the US, which of the six US time zones should be applied? So, I'm removing times from the table for the first season.Thomas Blomberg (talk) 11:09, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vulnerable information? Maybe topic of each show?--2.100.56.162 (talk) 03:50, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think Birgitte Nyborg's husband's name is spelt "Phillip" (two Ls) 46.208.66.33 (talk) 17:32, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0083616/ - this site indicates it is Philip with one 'L' and the listing of times in the US, especially given the number of time zones seems unimportant. Alexa Smith 03:10, 28 January 2013 (UTC)alexasmith — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexasmith (talkcontribs)

The show's own homepage at DR1 (and indeed all the inline citations offered for the spelling) clearly list Mikael Birkkjær's character as being called Phillip Christensen (http://www.dr.dk/DR1/Borgen/20130101135205.htm http://dl.dropbox.com/u/87839928/Borgen%201.JPG). navlebeskuelse (talk) 11:57, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

– This page meets WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the term Borgen with 25k/month views. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 06:12, 7 October 2012 (UTC) -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 20:35, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The TV series is certainly popular at the moment, but not enough to edge all the other meanings out as a primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 17:00, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Do you have any evidence for that position? -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 07:38, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Definite primary topic. 26,373 views last month versus 6,910 for all others on the dab page. You can call recentism, and I'll say we can move it back as soon as the situation changes. --BDD (talk) 23:54, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose – A name this ambiguous should go to a disambig page, as it does now. Dicklyon (talk) 03:12, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Season 3[edit]

I have added a brief synopsis for season 3 of Borgen. Although I have watched this up to episode 7, I have attempted to avoid spoilers and haven't included anything that isn't readily available in Danmarks Radio's own season synopsis for season 3 (http://www.dr.dk/DR1/Borgen/english/synopsis3.htm).navlebeskuelse (talk) 10:02, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A problem is, that there are things discribed one never sees in the film! Conclusions are discribed as a part of the filmic story! Hilsen fra München --46.244.228.198 (talk) 21:08, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What is that supposed to mean? Everything I have written you will see if you watch it, or is a recounted part of the backstory. navlebeskuelse (talk) 07:17, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hanne Holm[edit]

was first journalist at ekspress and came later with the help of Katrine Fønsamrk to TV1. Many people are using the english wiki, though its very important, that the information is right! I am also fighting with the same mistake (First TV1, later ekspressen) at the german wiki. Sorry for my rude words, but sometimes its to stupid. --46.244.225.125 (talk) 21:39, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you would care to watch the WHOLE series and not just series 2, you will see that Hanne Holm was employed at TV1 at the start, she was then sacked from there and gained a job at Ekspress, where she stayed upto series 2 episode 4 and then RETURNED with the help of Katrine to TV1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.173.42.138 (talk) 10:04, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I saw all three seasons, only missing is the last part, number 30. I am nearly 100 % sure, that I am right, but it is a few months ago, I saw the first season. Though, someone should check this seriosly!! --88.217.90.36 (talk) 22:17, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
46.244.225.125: I would suggest you sit down and have a nice cup of tea. 94.173.42.138 is quite correct; Hanne was at TV1 in the first episode, and was sacked when Freis got an e-mail outing her as a drunk. For which she (unjustly) blamed Katrina, hence the friction between them during the first series. You probably need to check those episodes again, before "fighting the mistake" (either here or on the German WP). Swanny18 (talk) 16:44, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, my mistake - I am sorry! But is it really useful to write something down, which was only a tiny part of her business life? --46.244.251.47 (talk) 19:38, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't tiny, because it is information that has recurring relevance throughout all 3 seasons of the show and is central to the relationships and loyalties between the characters of Fønsmark, Jull, Friis and Holm .. right up to and including the season 3 finale navlebeskuelse (talk) 07:27, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Many different directors[edit]

have a look under instruktør: http://www.dfi.dk/faktaomfilm/film/da/68103.aspx?id=68103 This should be corrected. --46.244.225.125 (talk) 22:18, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Season 3 episodes[edit]

I have added the season 3 episodes, with their original Danish air dates, viewing figures and episode titles, along with my own translations English translations of the episode titles (they should hold good, but will need to be verified at a later date, when a version with English subtitles is available). So as not to turn the article into a spoiler, I have omitted episode summaries. Unfortunately I forgot to make a note of epigraphs as I was watching season 3, so I have only been able to add the ones for the few episodes still available for viewing on the DR website. navlebeskuelse (talk) 15:24, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If anyone happens to have recorded series 3 and can provide the missing epigraphs, I will happily do the the honours with translation etc. navlebeskuelse (talk) 20:19, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

IPA for pronunciation[edit]

The pronunciation specified in the article (Danish pronunciation: [ˈb̥ɒːˀwən]) contains a ⟨w⟩, which is the IPA representation of a labio-velar approximant. Yet this symbol is not listed in Help:IPA for Danish, and Danish phonology does not mention a labio-velar approximant.

A w is used in the so-called Dania transcription for a bilabial approximant, but the Dania transcription is incompatible with IPA. The IPA symbol that represents this sound is ⟨β⟩ – which, however, is not listed in Help:IPA for Danish either. Something is rotten in the state of Danish pronunciation.  --Lambiam 15:07, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Given the pride Danes take in the notorious difficulty of Danish pronunciation for non-native speakers [1][2][3], one might almost suspect this is deliberate! They even allude to this jokingly on the show, when Nyborg tries to teach her British boyfriend a little proper pronouncing. The Independent offers that "Borgen is apparently pronounced like the English word 'bone'". [4] --Arxiloxos (talk) 17:45, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Borgen is a quite normal Danish word, simply meaning "the castle". I'm confident that the standard Danish pronunciation of this word only involves phonemes that occur in standard Danish phonology. I don't believe that the Danes decided to change the pronunciation of the word in order to make it harder for foreigners by making the word unpronounceable for themselves.  --Lambiam 01:21, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Fair enough. According to the article history, the IPA was added in an edit as of 17:23, 19 May 2012 [5], so I have advised that editor about this thread and asked for input here. [6] --Arxiloxos (talk) 02:51, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Table with cast, actors, characters and roles[edit]

Some of the characters in the table giving the names of the cast appear in all 3 series, others just in one, maybe two. I think it would be helpful to add another column to the table to give that information - just a heading 'Series' and then the appropriate number(s) in each entry. The Old Trout (talk) 21:01, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest making a new row for the government in Season 4 and Greenlandic characters respectively. Borgenland (talk) 18:10, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
