Page re-created[edit]
I'm aware that I have recreated a page which was deleted 3 years ago, although I don't know what appeared on the earlier page. I hope this page won't also be summarily deleted. It concerns only a small town, but (a) such places are important, too, if less notable (b) the info provided deals with the family who gave their name to the town, and (c) detailed references have been provided. The residents of Brownsville…[edit]
There is nothing in this article that discusses Brownsville as being a well established African American community. Brownsville was an African American community located in Frostburg, Maryland, in what is now the Upper Quad of Frostburg State University's campus. Tamar Brown, possibly a newly freed slave, founded the community in 1866 when she purchased the first lot for $150 from Nelson and Caroline Beall's Addition No. 1 in 1866. (Frostburg University article) It is also not mentioned that the US govt. utilized eminent domain to reclaim this land paying the residents not nearly what the value of their homes or land was worth. Basically a destruction of this flourishing community.
There is also no reference to the fact that the US government used 2601:C7:4300:16D0:392B:3908:A55E:5A20 (talk) 10:42, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
