Promotional tone[edit]

this article, as well as the House of cards article, need to be rewritten to be less promotional of this person, regardless of his status in this area. Mercurywoodrose (talk) 07:19, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. The article could be improved, and has been somewhat (at the cost of a number of seemingly relevant details that were either poorly cited or poorly written). With all due respect to some of the people who initially wrote the article, it does appear to have been created by some enthusiastic young fans - so if you had to put a word on it, what remains from that is more fannish than promotional. However, it reasonably documents the high points in the career of a card stacker. I don't think there's a standard here for what counts, inasmuch as he is the only person in the world apparently who makes a living at this. But by comparison with, say, magicians, ventriloquists, commercial artists, musical entertainers, and others who earn their living by performing for public amusement and corporate sponsorships, notability is defined by where one has performed, for whom, and in what venues and media outlets. To say that Herbie Hancock has performed for Miles Davis or on a landmark music video is not promotional. Likewise, to say that Berg performed on a TV show for the Disney Channel simply documents a career highlight. We could use a more in-depth discussion of his methods, training, business enterprise and personal history, and it would be good to expand the article in that direction. - Wikidemon (talk) 16:18, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
