Mary and Sal[edit]

What is the relationship between Mary Valastro Picinich (Buddy's mom) and Sal Picinich? Why do they share a last name? Has Mary remarried? If so, we should update the relationship. 71.1.158.246 (talk) 14:15, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sal's wife is cited as "Lucille" in his obituary and Mary Valastro is not mentioned as being a sister-in-law (or other). Sal did have a couple of brothers per the obituary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.91.28.231 (talk) 21:58, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That last part of Mary's name should be Pinto, not Picinich. Can this be changed? Kaitw (talk) 15:47, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is correct (that Mary's last name should be "Valastro Pinto") per this article: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CREC-1997-04-29/html/CREC-1997-04-29-pt1-PgE772-2.htm - a Congressional Record from gpo.gov. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djrudd (talkcontribs) 20:37, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mary married Sergio Picinic a few years ago. Sergio and Mary have been friends for years. Sergio's late wife worked at Carlos Bakery. Sal Picinich has no relation to Sergio. Both men are from an island in Croatia where Picinic/Picinich is very common surname.

Update to the cast page[edit]

I learned from a pal of mine who knows and works for Buddy that Tone-Tone no longer works at the bakery and doesn't appear in Season 2 I hope you guys are ok with this since its official. Red Polar Bear Ranger (talk) 04:42, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There needs to be a name update for Lisa Gonzalez (currently shows Lisa Valastro Buddy's youngest sister and the ex-wife of Remigio "Remy" Gonzalez. On the Cake Boss episode "Mother's Day, Mama and Mom-to-be", Lisa gives birth to her and Remy's daughter, Isabella.) Firebringer987 15:48, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The real season finale and the special is a season 2 episode[edit]

I thought I point out that Febuary 22nd is the real date for the season finale and the Nascar episode is also a season 2 episode which brings it to the total of 18 episodes.

Copyright infringment[edit]

To all new editors: Please remember not to plagiarize copyright-protected material from other websites, as was done with these edits to the article, in which copyright-protected material was copied from TLC's website. Copyright infringement is illegal, can get Wikipedia into legal trouble, and can result in blocks imposed on editors who do this.

In addition, an encyclopedia is expected to be written in an formal tone, and not with the informal, promotional language one finds in advertisement or promotional websites, as on TLC's site. We also do not abbreviate states or titles like Governor, and in cutting and pasting TLC's synopsis for one episode, the person who did this even removed the wikilink from Chris Christie's name, an indication that the editor did not even bother looking closely at the article's content before doing so.

Please remember that when you use material from sources, you must paraphrase it, and not just copy and paste it. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 23:40, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New cast change and Ultimate Cake Boss[edit]

Before I logged in I updated the cast section due to the fact that Toni Walton, and Kevin Krand who I have both of them on my facebook have mentioned that they do not work for Carlos Bakery anymore. About Ultimate Cake Boss that is not only a special but its also a crossover/bonus episode of Ultimate Cake Off since it was filmed when they were doing season 2 of that show. Red Polar Bear Ranger 22:05, 25 June 2010 (UTC) (talk)[reply]

Episodes moved[edit]

One Mr. Prez created a separate list of episodes in February. I came across it while i was sorting lists of tv show episodes out of the "L" section a few days ago. A few minutes ago i completed merging the list from the main article into List of Cake Boss episodes because at 3 seasons it was rather long for the main article and the first season and a bit where listed on both pages. If i had seen more than one episode of the show i might have expanded the main article but for my ignorance of the show i left the rest of the content alone. The series overview is transcluded from the list of episodes and has been merged with the dvd releases table. I left the episode count for season 3 blank because i am not sure if it is to be only the 13 listed or if it will be longer like season 2 is. I hope noöne who is a regular editor for this show minds too much but for the version of the episode list i found [1] was in need of some attention.

As to what to fill the article with perhaps real-world response to the show from customers or a section on the series' production. If that sounds odd let me up front confess that reality tv is not my speciality. delirious & lost~talk to her~ 04:14, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And that was the fasted objection to any clean up I have ever done. Reverted as vandalism within a couple of minutes. :( delirious & lost~talk to her~ 04:38, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy[edit]

I have removed the paragraph about Remy in the controversy section. It was not a controversy about the show. It was about an individual who is on the show. It does not belong. ~~ GB fan ~~ 03:06, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He doesn't have his own article; he's famous because of the show. His arrest is notable because he's on the show. This is the place to put it. Kafziel Complaint Department 07:38, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So he is not notable enough to have his own article but a news report about him should be added to the show article. What does this have to do with the show? If it effects the show in some way, it should be added with due weight. At this point there is no indication that it has an effect on the show so it does not belong. ~~ GB fan ~~ 08:53, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with GB fan ... until the issue is shown to impact the show, it's only tangentally related to an article about the show, so should not be included at this time. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 13:39, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with my original idea and Kafziel... however, if you guys are against it you against it, it's okay!--Ericci8996 (talk) 00:18, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think we can all agree that this article is about the show Cake Boss. This information has been put into a section titled Controversy. How is this information a controversy about the show? It is controversial news information about a non-notable person who is on the show. There is nothing to show that this effects the show at all. Kafziel is correct that there is no other place to put the information but since the information is not about the show and hasn't been shown to effect the show it doesn't belong anywhere in the encyclopedia. ~~ GB fan ~~ 03:40, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's been a while, but I think the information about Remy should be re-added to the page. While his arrest didn't cause the cancellation of the show it did have an effect. 1. He was removed from the show, 2. he no longer works at the bakery and 3. he is no longer a family member. all 3 were consequences of the charges brought against him. The question should be does this event merit mentioning. I believe it does because this is a show about a family bakery and this event did not fit the image of the show, so he was removed. If you look to a show like "Little People Big World" when the star of the show was charged with DUI they featured front and center, even though it wasn't in line with the image of the show. Cake Boss chose to remove Remy and that decision should be part of the history of the show. Good or Bad, it happened. Removing it creates an interpretation of what happened, rather than a recounting of what happened. It happened, that's not a judgement or an opinion, it happened. Also I would submit that it was not a controversy, this wasn't something that cause a public outcry. It was simply an event in the life of one of the cast member's, it just happens that it was a negative event. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.225.167.109 (talk) 03:31, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Shame on you for removing that information. It certainly is relevant, whether he is convicted or not... You just removed it because you are a fan of the show and don't want it to have any 'black eyes' --- so you censor them out. Well, that is very very irresponsible of you and it should be re-added to the controversies section... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.48.241.189 (talk) 16:45, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My feelings about the show have nothing to do with why I removed the information. I have tried to explain above why I removed the information. You say the information is relevant to the show but you do not explain why it is relevant to the show. Can you please limit your comments to the content rather than the editors. ~~ GB fan ~~ 16:51, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should add: A preview of Buddy and Carlos Bakery occurred when he appeared on 'Whose Wedding is it Anyway' in 2007. This wedding show travels to a variety of vendor meetings: dress makers, florists, reception sites etc. In Season 4 Episode 3 "Pop Stars and Dictators" the show goes to the Hoboken cake shop and meets with Buddy. 2 years later Buddy winds up having his own show, Cake Boss. 98.141.5.98 (talk) 17:13, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With the citation on him, here is the full bio of him on http://thepastryarch.com/tony-albanese/ which details his work on Cake Boss "While matriculating at ICE, Tony gained an externship at well known Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, NJ- working side by side with celebrity pastry chef Buddy Valastro. After completing the externship and graduating from ICE with Honors, Tony was hired full time at Carlo’s as both a Cake Decorator and Buddy’s personal assistant." In season 4, episode 10, "Punches, Psychics & Piping", Buddy introduces his coworkers to Santino Marella by their full names: Danny is Donato and Frankie is Francusc. I've heard the Francusc in other episodes as well. For completeness' sake, warrants a mention in the employees section. --82.72.118.91 (talk) 14:45, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mary's last name[edit]

hi, I know this has been discussed and changed lot but in these articles from Mary's passing:

http://people.com/archive/cake-boss-buddy-valastro-my-moms-fight-to-live-vol-78-no-7/ http://www.thisisinsider.com/mary-valastro-cake-boss-dead-at-69-2017-6 http://www.nj.com/entertainment/tv/index.ssf/2017/06/buddy_valastro_mother_died_mary_valastro_cake_boss.html

It has Sergio's last name as Pinninich.
