De-stubbed[edit]

This article appears to be of an appropriate length for the subject matter under discussion. It is also appropriately categorized and wikified. Therefore, as part of my personal campaign to free up articles that have been stubbed and tagged for no apparant reason, this article has been disenstubified. Name discrepancy?[edit]

The page in the Italian Wikipedia is titled Cimitero del Verano. Which is the correct version of its name for use here? -- Deborahjay (talk) 12:04, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The name should be Campo del Verano, not di Verano. Believe me, I live near it and can reach it in 10 minutes walking! More correctly, it should be called Cimitero monumentale del Verano. However this article is a stub, no more than that. There's not even a mention of the important people who are buried there Anton Giulio Bragaglia the futurist, or Bruno Buozzi, etc. As for the description of the sections of the cemetery, it's quite poor. And there are other important monuments there, such as the one to the Roman Jews who died in the Nazi concentration camps.--93.40.131.212 (talk) 21:04, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name discrepancy, part 2[edit]

Seeing that there was no consensus (or response) on the above topic, I'd like to propose that the article be renamed "Cimitero del Verano.". A simple Google search ([1]) shows that this has about 175,000 results, and seems to be the native Italian form. There's a precedent in English Wikipedia for keeping this form (cf. Cimitero Monumentale di Milano), although there is also precedent to the contrary (cf. Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno). In the case of this cemetery, though, I don't think it could be named "Monumental Cemetery of Verano"—that appears only 270 times on Google. — AlekJDS ^talk 04:59, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My second thought is that "Campo Verano" might be the best choice. This seems to show up a lot in English publications, and has the merit of excluding the contentious article ("di" or "del"). — AlekJDS ^talk 05:03, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
