Contradiction[edit]

This article states that the story was published in 1883 in Novelle Rusticane. The Wikipedia article on Giovanni Verga states that it was published in 1880 in The Life of the Fields (1880) (Vita dei campi). Maurice Magnus (talk) 03:05, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Plot summary[edit]

I added a 2003 translation of the story. In this translation, the plot is not the same as it is summarized in this article. Turiddu (no accent over the "u") does not promise marriage to Santa (as translator J. G. Nichols calls her), and Santa does not find herself pregnant. I will not change the plot summary in the article, because I assume that the editor who wrote it did not make it up, but I cannot explain the difference. Are there different versions of the story?
