Encyclopaedic Tone...[edit]

Ok, so seeing as an article tag has been added on the article. I figure we should all come together and discuss about what ContinueWithCaution means by the tone.

I for one, see no real problem with it. But am open to discussion about it. MisterShiney 20:57, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I don't really see what he's getting out. It seems encyclopedic enough to me. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 21:03, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, its layout and form/wording seems the same as other TV pages I have come across. If he hadnt been an experienced editor I probably would have removed it. I put a Talkback with a link here on his talk page. Hopefully he can be a little more specific. MisterShiney 21:15, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cast Section reduction[edit]

I would think the best way is to remove the summary of each cast member as that can be read in the separate article List of Chicago Fire characters. Only leave the name of each only. Just leave it at one line per person.

Also the cast table of season appears could be move to the Episode list or section. --Ecto~enwiki (talk) 19:24, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Readers shouldn't be forced to go to another article to find out information, so there should be a very brief summary for each, at least name and role. However WP:TVCAST says that summary information should be presented in prose format, and discussions at various pages, including WT:TV have never supported cast tables in main series articles, so that should exist only in the characters article. --AussieLegend () 19:39, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Monica Raymund's likely departure[edit]

What do you think of this news about Monica Raymund's departure of the show?

Speculation and no hard evidence. --AussieLegend () 18:06, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there's a good chance it will be proven later on. We better keep an eye out. BattleshipMan (talk) 18:14, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

KAYLA’S Notebook

The cast list section needs a rewrite, it is written backwards by people who have watched the show and know all that has happened. The cast section should be written for new readers and viewers and first start by introducing the characters, and only then explaining that characters such as Casey later achieved the rank of Captain. I don't have time to fix it myself just this minute but I hope to come back around to it soon but if anyone else wants to fix it before then that would be great too. -- 109.79.166.207 (talk) 04:38, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Someone rewrote the information about Chief Boden and put information about season 10 right at the start instead of adding it after, so I made a few small fixes. The section still needs a substantial rewrite to fix all the basic problems and get it into a coherent and chronological order and make it better for all readers. WP:TVCAST -- 109.79.170.230 (talk) 23:12, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I made a few more fixes, there's still more to do. It seems that List of Chicago Fire characters also suffers from a lot of the same chronology problems, with information from later seasons put right up front, instead first introducing the characters and then after that explaining what happens. I guess with new people starting to edit Wikipedia all the time this sort of thing is going to happen a lot, but imagine you were trying to explain the show to a friend, start at the beginning, explain for example that a character trying to become a firefighter before explaining what happens next, you wouldn't start by saying "Former firefighter". Unfortunately parts of the Cast section and List of Chicago Fire characters were written in the worst possible order, making them only useful to people who have already watched the show and totally unhelpful to new viewers who have come to the show late, and want to get an introduction to the characters, or catch-up on some but not all details. More fixes and rewriting still needed. TLDR: keep it simple, write in linear chronological order. -- 109.78.199.18 (talk) 21:00, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This sort of thing has happened before and will likely happen again, some editors get distracted by what just happened instead of viewing the series as a whole. It is easier to see things in perspective when a show has finished, for example take a look at cast section from the medical show Code_Black_(TV_series) and also take a look at the discussion and misunderstandings Talk:Code_Black_(TV_series) that happened before the section was eventually rewritten into something that is fairly coherent and useful to readers. The characters in that show start as interns and the ranks and positions change every season. It is important to include significant changes that occur during the series and not leave out important details, but they should not be put first or replace the basic character introductions. -- 109.78.196.169 (talk) 13:27, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Chicago Fire (TV series)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Chicago Fire (TV series)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "entertainment2016":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT 04:36, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
