Title revealed?

With the first episode script page revealed, the top says "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" in a similar way that Riverdale script pages say "Riverdale" at the top. Should we take this as confirmation to the show title? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:32, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

I would. Anyway, we should hopefully get confirmation very soon since filming is expected to start next month in Vancouver. - Brojam (talk) 03:41, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
Just to be safe, and since filming is so close, I'll wait on moving, because we can just make the move to mainspace once filming has started. Also, do you have a source for the filming so we can add it in? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:45, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
Filming for the first season is expected to be from February to June and from June to October for the second season according to when the series was picked up by Netflix.[1] [2] It's possible it might have been pushed according to this. - Brojam (talk) 04:52, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
I'll add in the THR article. Is YVRShoots reliable? I've never come across it before. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:47, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
@Favre1fan93: The BC production website has the series listed as "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina". [3] - Brojam (talk) 03:26, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
I think it should be safe to move for now, as filming starts in a few days, and if we're given new information at a later date, we can always move the article again. -- AlexTW 03:31, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
 Moved. - Brojam (talk) 03:37, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
I don't doubt it, but many of the trades still say it is untitled. I personally would have waited to move it (including keeping it at "Untitled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina TV adaption" in the mainspace), but I don't have an issue with you doing so. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 04:54, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

Episode 10 note

During episode 10 one of the entities is referred to by multiples names; the Red Angel of Death, the Crimson Death, the Butcher, the Red Angel. I chose the first one for the summary as that is the one I believe was mostly used but please feel free to change if there are official sources for the "correct" name. Thanks all! Brocicle (talk) 19:30, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

S1 cast credits

Not sure how we want to go about listing the cast credits but I've compiled the order and count of each per the end credits of each epiosde. I've added all the actors that appear in 4 or more episodes as recurring. All the remaining "Guest Starring" as guest and the 3 eps "Co-Starring" actors as guest as well. - Brojam (talk) 21:27, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

Production company(s)

Brojam, production deals only Warner Bros Television. See opening credits (also see iMDB). Archie Comics is comic book publisher (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic), not a film production company. See The Dark Knight, DC Comics is not listed as a production company, although it is in the opening. Template:Infobox television: "sub-contractors hired to perform production work, e.g. animation houses, special effects studios, post-production facilities etc. should not be included here, as this may create confusion about the nation(s) of origin. Instead, use sourced prose in the article's Production section to explain these details". Federal Chancellor (NightShadow) (talk) 19:39, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Berlanti Productions, Archie Comics, Warner Bros. Television are listed as the main production companies at the end credits. Archie Comics should not have been linked since that article is for the comic book publisher, my bad. These are the exact same as Riverdale, except for CBS Television Studios since it does not air on The CW. Here's a video of the end credits [4] - Brojam (talk) 20:17, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Also NETFLIX is listed in the end credits just after the rest. The others are not listed as production companies. Berlanti and WB TV are the only real production company listed and Berlanti is just the vanity plate of an executive producer, the others just have some ownership or copyright interest in this series so get to put their stamp on the end. The only "production" Archie Comics did is licensing the property. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:32, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
The credits do not indicate that they are engaged in production, except Warner Bros (opening credit: "A Warner Bros. Television Production"). Archie Comics is listed as the publisher of the comic on which the series is based (opening credit: "Based upon the comic book by Archie Comics"). Berlanti Productions is a sub-contractor, so it is not listed in the opening credits with Warner Bros. Federal Chancellor (NightShadow) (talk) 20:32, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Brojam is correct. The production companies are Warner Bros., Berlanti Production, Archie Comics, and Netfilx. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:20, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
But Netflix does not produced the series (and Brojam didn't say that). Archie Comics is not a film production company. Please provide reliable sources. Federal Chancellor (NightShadow) (talk) 21:32, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Also, NightShadow, IMDb can't be used as reliable source. In the info announcing the series, we have reliable sources confirming all four of these that I listed above as the production companies for the series. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:21, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
(edit conflict) The only information in the credits itself is in the opening credit: "A Warner Bros. Television Production". The rest are just names listed at the end of the credit sequence without any role attached to them. Archie Comics gets a based on credit, but not a production credit. NightShadow23 is correct on what should go in the production attribute based on listed credits and infobox instructions for that attribute. The WP:PRIMARY source, the series credits, is authoritative for this info. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:38, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Opening and ending credits can be used for the infobox parameters. Here and here is info on such, with this also confirming Archie Comics has a production/producing arm. Also by looking at the executive producers of the series (with that credit usually going to many of the top executives of each production company involved) Jon Goldwater, CEO of Archie Comics, is credited as such, much like on Riverdale. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:41, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Then why doesn't the opening credits say "Archie Comics, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television Production"? Federal Chancellor (NightShadow) (talk) 21:58, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
(edit conflict) The list of company names at the end of the credit list does not give any information on what they do, just that they have some stake in the series. Archie Comics inking a deal with Warner is just a licensing deal, it does not make them a production company. The info in the opening credits gives the roles. Archie Comics is not producing the series but they have a stake in it as it is their characters and they have some creative input. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:59, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
I understand that WB is only stated in the opening, but I don't feel that then automatically excludes Berlanti and Archie as production companies simply because they are in the closing credits. We don't know exactly the full extent of who produced and who just has creative input or the like as you said, so I don't think we should be make our own judgements on that and should stick to all the companies credited in both sets of credits, until clarifying info is revealed, if at all. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:04, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
Note that Netflix is also listed at the end as a company with a stake in the series. The list of companies named in the end credits does not state what role they played, there is no intro that says what follows is production companies, but other sourced info such as the opening credits and the copyright notice do. WB is the producer and copyright owner. Archie licenses the characters and limits how they can be portrayed. Berlanti Productions is a subcontractor to WB and looks by sources to be the actual entity that does the work in making the series so I can see why they should be listed. The only ones that are obvious to me that shouldn't be listed is Archie as their role is explicitly stated as licenser of the characters, and Netflix as their role is commissioning the series and committing to pay for it. Archie is already listed in the infobox with a based on credit as is appropriate and sourced, they shouldn't get listed as a producer as well. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:20, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

NightShadow23 Please note I have reverted you again to retain the WP:STATUSQUO of the article as it has been before you made the first adjustment here that was reverted by multiple editors. Per STATUSQUO, we are now discussing the matter, so that established version should remain until we conclude discussing, keeping current consensus or changing it. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:45, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

I recommend you read the arguments, not ignore them. Federal Chancellor (NightShadow) (talk) 15:34, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

salem Fixing style/layout errors

How about this to solve the formatting and being uncredited? Geraldshields11 (talk) 19:05, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

Also main but uncredited

  • Salem Saberhagen, a black cat, appears in the series, who in the comics is a former witch sentenced by the Witches Council to spend an indefinite amount of time as a cat that lives with Sabrina and her family.[1]

Characters article

I created a draft article for the characters as many are unique to this series and aren't mentioned in the actual comic. Please contribute if you wish to! Thanks. Brocicle (talk) 15:44, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Lawsuit

Creators of the show and Netflix are being sued for $50m. Just wondering if this should be added to the article or not. So far it's received substantial coverage from the media but want to hear other editors opinions first. [5] [6] [7] Brocicle (talk) 11:02, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

Episodes

I'm confused by the release of the episodes for this series. Tomorrow's episode is not an additional episode to the initial twenty ordered, correct, it's part of the twenty? So, is it purely a special and Season 2 will be separate and have nine episodes (the entire second season is set to be released on April 5, 2019)? Or is it the first episode of the second season, and April will see the release of the second through tenth episodes (the rest of the second season of the series is set to be released on April 5, 2019)? -- AlexTW 13:09, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

I think that's right. I assume when they were producing the show that they decided that the eleventh episode would be a special of sorts and that Season 2 would be nine episodes. I'd imagine when Netflix orders further seasons(Because reportedly the show has done very well) that we'll probably see something similar again. Esuka323 (talk) 22:51, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
@AlexTheWhovian: Here's a good interview with Roberto explaining how it happened [8]. It is in fact the 12th episode of the initial twenty ordered that will be the Christmas special since they had already started production on the 11th episode as the season 2 premiere when Roberto had the idea to do a Christmas episode. We'll have to wait for the second season to be released to see if Netflix groups the special with the rest of season 2 (ie Part 2) like they did with Sense8, which I think they will. - Brojam (talk) 05:16, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Great find Brojam! I think a lot of that info should be included in the article, at least to source the release by Netflix as calling them "Part 1" and "Part 2". I'm still not caught up on the series and am trying to avoid the article as much I can, otherwise, I'd add the contents in myself. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:38, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
So it looks like the special has been added as the last episdoe of "Part 1" rather than the first of "Part 2". I'm still not sure how we should separate/indicate the parts. Do we do like The Ranch or just refer to each part as a separate season? - Brojam (talk) 19:58, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Well I think it was originally announced as an order of 2, 10-episode seasons. But the formatting on The Ranch might work here as well. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:13, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Yep, it was two 10 episode seasons filmed back to back because it was more cost effective. Just like what Marvel/ABC are doing with Agents of Shield Seasons 6 & 7. If anything I think the special episode belongs in the first season table, this would eliminate the need for a specials table too. Esuka323 (talk) 16:56, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
Agreed. - Brojam (talk) 22:09, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
It’s weird how this show started destined for The CW, where its first season would’ve gotten about 20 episodes, before Netflix swoops in and gets it a 2 season pickup…amounting to the same 20 episodes. It almost feels like we’re getting only half of what we would expect, but maybe that is just me--Fradio71 (talk) 02:57, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
Fradio71, please be aware that this is not a forum, per WP:NOTAFORUM. The discussion concerns the placement of the special episode within the first and second seasons. -- AlexTW 03:02, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

I think if the episode is added to the first season table it should have one of those divider type lines with the word "Special". I'm not sure what the Wikipedia term is for it, but they're on that The Ranch page, and I saw it used for the bonus Lucifer episodes. It would be important to distinguish the special from the rest of the first season episodes. Esuka323 (talk) 04:09, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. The "part" headers. Those aren't always necessary, however; see Sense8 (season 2). -- AlexTW 04:17, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
I guess that could work too. I'm a bit unfamiliar with how things like this are handled for streaming shows, so I appreciate the Sense8 example. Thankyou. Esuka323 (talk) 04:30, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
No problems. If it gets to the point where we add a series overview, we can always do it like Sense8#Episodes or The Man in the High Castle (TV series)#Series overview. -- AlexTW 04:44, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
CAOS is like The Ranch. Variety (https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/chilling-adventures-of-sabrina-renewed-netflix-1203092148/) confirm that the initial order for the series was a 20 episodes first season split into two 10-episode segments. "Part 2" is the second half of Season 1. The new 16 episodes/two parts order is the second season. So I think it's better to do like The Ranch -- ThomasRibeiro25 (ThomasRibeiro25) 23:24, 18 December 2018 (UTC+1)
That's super confusing. The Variety article when I fixed up the reference stated Seasons 3 & 4, now it states Season 2. But at least that clears things up. Esuka323 (talk) 22:57, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
Variety isn't the only website that changed it from "Seasons 3 & 4" to Season 2. All of them did it because they realized it was wrong. So, yep, Season 1 = Parts 1 & 2, 20 episodes. Season 2 = Parts 3 & 4, 16 episodes. Lady Rapunzzle (talk) 21:36, 18 December 2018
