Merge stadium article[edit]

Not sure there's much point in having a separate article for Hardenhuish Park just yet..can always be split off if/when there's enough verifiable info. Paulbrock 15:19, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History - Chippenham Town formation date.[edit]

The club appears to claim they were formed in 1873 but several newspaper articles suggest that the club was not formed until Dec 1884. The Wiltshire and Gloucester Standard of 6 December 1884 reports, "A meeting was held at the George Hotel, on Wednesday evening, for the purpose of forming a football club." The Wiltshire Times 13 December 1884 reports a second meeting, "On Monday evening a meeting was held at the George Hotel by those interested in the football club which has been started this season." The Devizes and Wiltshire Gazette 24 December 1884 reports a game between Chippenham and Melksham, "The first match played at Chippenham since the formation of the club a few weeks since was played at Chippenham".

The Devizes and Wiltshire Gazette 12 April 1888 reporting the last game of the season includes, "It is now four years since the Chippenham Club was started".

The Devizes and Wiltshire Gazette 10 April 1890 reporting the first annual dinner in connection with the Football Club includes, "In their own town the establishment of a football club only dated from 1884". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.83.172 (talk) 00:02, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
