Episode List[edit]

On 12:28, 5 November 2009 Woohookitty decided to split out the episodes from the main page (spinning-off. Episode list has gotten to be a bit overwhelming). While I applaud this decision, I would argue that splitting all the episodes onto the same page doesn't really clean much up. It would, IMO, be better to spin off each season into its own page. Any thoughts? PhilDeCube (talk) 03:11, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spoilers in Chopped Champions section[edit]

In the Chopped Champions section, after describing the particular competitions, the texts tend to immediately state the winners.

Example: Starting August 31, 2010, and continuing for four additional episodes, Food Network aired the "$50,000 Tournament". Sixteen past champions competed. The winners of the first four episodes competed against each other in the "Grand Finale" for the $50,000 prize. The winner was [Insert winner here].

As a fan who took a look at the wiki page to get a feel for the technical aspects of the show, I found myself reading over the Champions section at the average speed at which I read, the names of all the winners registering quite quickly in my head. Stating the facts about the tournaments does give it away, but on the other hand, wikipedia is obviously here to represent facts. Former contestants competing in other reality shows[edit]

I have already put down the contestants that would go on to appear on Hell's Kitchen. If anyone knows if any contestant would go on to appear on another reality show, put it down. Thank you! Wonderwizard (talk) 14:17, April 15 2014 (UTC)

Does anyone know what the rules are?[edit]

I've been searching, and it would help to understand the contestants' choices if the audience understood the weights of various factors in the judging. For example, creativity vs. execution, and taste vs. presentation.

It appears that, especially in the last round, the judges take previous rounds into consideration when choosing a winner. Is this formalized somehow?

I did find this interview (already added to the article!) which says it's done by consensus, so there does not have to be a numerical process, but still the judges have to have an agreed-upon sense of the relative importance of the issues to reach that consensus. 71.41.210.146 (talk) 03:54, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As a long-time fan of the show, I can tell you that the judges always take all three rounds into consideration when deciding the winner, and they often refer to missteps in earlier rounds when explaining why they didn't pick the other contestant. As far as the three official criteria, I think it's left up to them because there are times that one aspect is more important than the other two and that can change, round to round. Also, there's a fourth, unspoken criterion, transformation. That is, just putting the basket ingredient on the plate as is satisfies the requirement to use it, but is given low marks by the judges. As an example, just sprinkling parsley on a dish (assuming it's in the basket) uses it, but making it into a sauce, or otherwise cooking it into your creation is preferred. Season order[edit]

How is it possible that Season 47 began airing three months before Season 46? Also, why do some seasons begin before the previous season is over? --Metropolitan90 (talk) 18:32, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure but any time I try to edit the seasons to reflect the listings on watch.foodnetwork.com (which I feel is an official source), it gets changed back by a bot. Can whoever made the bot that changes my edits explain what they're basing the episode numbers on?? Maybe allow me to make some manual edits?

A four part "event" of related episodes was separated by seasons even though they aired over the course of four consecutive weeks. (Three Hangry Baskets episodes as episodes 11, 12, & 13 of season 48 and then the last Hangry Baskets episode is listed as episode 7 in season 49. That doesn't make sense. --SunnieSkye (talk) 02:13, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Episode Template[edit]

Is it possible to edit an episode template? Usually, it's four contestants (listed as Cont1, Cont2, etc.) but in a recent episode, there was a fifth contestant and when I tried to add it to the template as Cont5, it didn't register. The episode even highlights in the title that there would be an extra, mystery contestant. As of now, I had to squish 2 contestants in the first row. --SunnieSkye (talk) 02:17, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
