Chur "over 5,000 years old"?[edit]

It is doubtless the oldest Swiss city, and doubtless known to the Romans, but 5,000 years makes it over 2,000 years older than Rome, if we take the traditional date of 753 BC as the date of Rome's founding. Or is this a typographical error, and the text should read "over 2,000 years old"? Writtenright 05:23, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Writtenright[reply]

Nevertheless it is correct. Archeological evidence shows a settlement around 3000 BC. So it is "over 5,000 years old". --Bhaak 17:58, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-- looking at the article in the DHS, there is evidence of settlement from the Pfyn Culture (ca. 3500 BCE), so I made the claim more specific. There was certainly no 'city' there 5000 years ago, however -- only in Roman times was there a significant population, as indicated by the siting of a bishopric there.
