Dubious claims[edit]

Editors like to make claims and indiscriminately add things like "cult classic" or "cult following" to old films even without any proof, and this seems like yet another example of that. At least in this case this article does include two dubious sources[1][2] purporting to show that this film has a cult following, but those sources really do support that statement. The reviewer from EW.com does insist it is a "classic" repeatedly (he doth protest too much) but it is difficult to take that seriously and he goes on to ask "ask, am I alone in my love for this movie"? It is a leap of logic to take this mix of revulsion and love in these two reviews and conclude that they represent a "cult following". They're just reviews, they don't indicate a cult following any more than the earlier review by Roger Ebert calling it "so odd, it's almost worth seeing" does. -- 109.78.202.101 (talk) 22:26, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Editors love to use the phrase "cult following" on WP, it's like a vague marketing term... But there's a comprehensive Vulture article I'll probably cite that makes a compelling case for this particular film. 70.163.208.142 (talk) 14:28, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
