Merger discussion[edit]

This article discusses the same topic as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crinisus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Recognitor (talkcontribs) 18:32, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Crimisus may be from Krimisos (Gk)[edit]

I notice that the link "Crimisus" does not work, and there is nothing even close in WIKI.

(Edit: I did subsequently find a link to "Crinisus" which does work. It is a stub, but when you get over to the WIKI page for his father, Acestes, there is more information. Still, is "Crinisus" the Latin version of "Krimisos"? And is it a Sicilian or Greek god originally? We may never know...) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.30.109.215 (talk) 12:42, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sicily, of course, was not Roman at first, nor fully Greek for a long time, being also shared with local rulers then contested for centuries between the Carthagenians and the Greek City States. As such, the WIKI pages listing the Greek Gods and subsidiaries does not cover these rivers, whose deity references are more local Sicilian than either Greek or Roman.

Doing a general internet search, I turned up the following which says that it is descended from an ancient Sicilian river god called "Krimisos".[1]

I do not know if this is a suitable reference for WIKI, but I suspect with some research we could turn up something. Then they would need to be "backed into" some of the Greek or Roman "adopted" gods on other WIKI pages.

All the best,
