Merge suggestion[edit]

I removed the suggestion of merge into CD/DVD authoring, as I see a clear distinction between the two subjects. One is the pressing of optical discs, and the other is the creation of content to go on an optical disc. One is done by a specialized industry, the other is done by amateurs as well, by the millions. People are curious how optical discs are pressed; people are also curious about how the Jones's latest and sweetest home DVD was made. The subjects in my opinion clearly merit separate articles. Finally, the merge suggestion was removed from the target article, as well as complained about on its talk page. Reswobslc 14:12, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History Section[edit]

A couple of the paragraphs in the history section appear almost like something someone would put on marketing materials for Sonic Solutions. Perhaps someone could wade through it and make it look a little less like a sales pitch? Greenlead 04:53, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to write a dvd movie with the mpeg file (size is around 1500 mb) from the system using nero. But after making it as a dvd, the dvd size is around 4 GB?. How could that happen. why the size is expanded. Any software to write a DVD movie with the same size without compromising the quality of the video and audio?

Inconsistency of DVD Players[edit]

According to the article, DVD players from different manufacturers do not always conform to the same rules because each developer understands the specifications, written in Japanese and then translated to English for use in America, in a slightly different way. Does that explain why my three DVD players, all made by Sony, perform differently from each other? What a mess! John Link (talk) 22:44, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
